Job & Recruitment Scams
Fake remote roles harvest fees or personal data; some try to route illicit funds through your account.
Warning signs
- Instant offers without interviews or portfolio checks.
- Text‑only interviews with grammar errors and no video.
- Requests to purchase equipment/training up front.
- “Payroll testing” that routes third‑party funds through you.
What to do
- Research the company independently; call the official number.
- Insist on a video interview and a written offer on letterhead.
- Never pay to start a job; never handle funds for strangers.
If you shared data or paid
- Freeze/monitor credit (where available) and rotate credentials.
- Keep receipts and chat logs; include bank references in disputes.
- Flag fraudulent postings with the sites where they appeared.
